13–14 October 2026 | Royal College of Physicians, London
Members of the Prisons, Drugs and Mental Health (PDMH) programme attended Wellcome’s Mid-Career Researcher Meeting at the Royal College of Physicians in London. The two-day event brought together around 300 mid-career researchers from across Wellcome’s Discovery Research portfolio, representing a wide range of disciplines, research areas and geographical contexts.
The meeting provided an opportunity for researchers at a similar career stage to share their work and experiences, learn from one another and develop new connections. Through collaborative sessions, workshops and cross-disciplinary networking, participants explored research practice alongside wider questions of leadership and career development, including the opportunities and challenges involved in becoming an established research leader.
The programme also encouraged researchers to make connections beyond their own disciplines, exchange different perspectives and identify areas of shared interest that could lead to future conversations and collaborations. Participants were invited to showcase their research and contribute to sessions, helping to reflect the breadth of research being undertaken across Wellcome’s mid-career research community.
